Pax Boniface, a Catholic Digital Missionary, has called on Catholic communicators to explore emerging digital platforms and new forms of storytelling rather than limiting the Church’s digital presence to TikTok and other popular platforms.
Speaking during the Art of Church Media Training organized by Depsocom-CAPE COAST, Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast, Pax Boniface challenged Catholic media practitioners to embrace innovation and develop creative approaches that distinguish Church content in the digital space
He emphasized that the Church’s presence online should go beyond simply following trends. Instead, Catholic communicators should understand each platform, identify its unique opportunities and create content that serves the mission of evangelization.*
“We need to explore new digital platforms. It should not be TikTok alone. We must develop new ways of using social media for the mission of the Church and make our content different.”
According to Pax Boniface, Catholic communicators have an opportunity to transform the digital space into a mission field, using creativity, storytelling, technology and authentic Catholic witness to reach wider audiences.
He encouraged communicators to think beyond views, likes and followers and focus on content that informs, inspires, evangelizes and connects people with Christ and the life of the Church.
The digital mission requires innovation. The platforms may change, but the mission remains: communicate, evangelize and inspire.
