The Minister’s attention was also drawn to the Sahel Peace Initiative (SPI) Project, which has made significant contributions to conflict resolution, particularly through the development of a conflict map for the northern part of Ghana.

The Minister expressed great interest in the initiative and requested a follow-up meeting for further discussions on how its lessons can be scaled nationally.

The Minister also outlined plans to transform Ghana’s prisons into correctional and rehabilitation centres by integrating manufacturing businesses within prison facilities, allowing inmates to develop skills, earn an income, and ease reintegration into society. He further addressed urgent security concerns, including youth involvement in narcotics, gun control, private security regulation and immigration management.

During the plenary, participants raised key issues such as politically-sponsored land guards, police extortion, disruptions by traditional leaders during the ban on noise-making and the influx of foreign beggars.

The Minister called for closer collaboration between the Church and the government, recognizing the Church’s critical role in upholding moral values, fostering social cohesion and promoting justice.
